Shots from the National Patient Advocate Foundation’s Fall 2018 Policy Consortium in Washington D.C. This consortium’s focus was to explore, “the challenges patients and health care teams face in talking the financial burden of serious illness” and featured keynote speaker, Suleika Jaouad.
During my first months of shooting seriously, I used exclusively B&W film. This is where I learned the importance of setting an exposure and using it as a tool to define the mood of an image. I have worked extensively with both film and digital cameras. I develop and edit all of my film.
Shooting on B&W film taught me to use exposure, depth of field and film speed as tools. Naturally, these tools carried over into working with color. Adding color to my toolbox created many more opportunities to express vibrance.
